Stable teeth with minimally invasive Mini Dental Implants

In certain cases, Dr. Munz can use Mini Dental Implants (MDIs) to stabilize dentures and support crowns in the replacement of missing teeth. Mini Dental Implants have a smaller diameter than regular implants, making them less invasive and easier to place, with almost no healing time.

Dr. Munz has completed considerable continued education and advanced training in Mini Dental Implants. Over the past 10 years he has successfully installed thousands of individual MDIs.

Dr. Munz is considered an expert in the use of MDIs to stabilize dentures. He is a Founding Member of the International Academy of Mini Dental Implants, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Small Diameter Implants.

What are Mini Dental Implants?

Mini Dental Implants (or MDIs) are similar to traditional implants designed to be installed in the bone of the gum line. Though essentially the same as traditional implants, MDIs are typically half the size and can be installed during a minimally invasive procedure that requires almost no healing time.

MDIs are FDA-approved for long-term use, and many patients have had their mini implant-supported restorations for many years. Dr. Munz uses MDIs manufactured by Park Research Dental because of their exceptional quality.

Uses of Mini Dental Implants

Mini Dental ImplantsDr. Munz uses MDIs to support dentures by creating dentures with special snap-in attachments that snap onto the implants. He can also use MDIs to create fixed bridges that closely emulate the experience of natural teeth. For single or a few missing teeth, an MDI can be used to support a crown, dental bridge or a partial denture.

When placing implants for implant-supported snap-in dentures, Dr. Munz will typically put four MDIs in the lower jawbone and six in the upper jaw (since it requires a little extra support). Thanks to the minimally invasive nature of MDIs, Dr. Munz can insert the lower implants the same day that teeth are extracted.

Simple replacement of a single damaged or missing tooth

Dr. Munz can insert a Mini Dental Implant to easily replace a single missing or damaged tooth. First, the affected tooth is extracted. Then, at the proper time, the implant is placed and after one week, a custom-designed crown arrives from the lab and can be placed on top of the implant.
